Heliski in Ordino Arcalís

Leveling up in the freeride paradise of the Pyrenees

The freeride paradise on the peninsula is Ordino Arcalís, in Andorra. The skiable domain has 450 hectares of land, with 4 marked freeride itineraries and 120 unmarked routes. On its slopes have descended the best freeriders in the world, competitors of the famous test of Freeride World Tour. In addition, Ordino Arcalís offers a unique possibility: to cross the borders of its domain and practice heli-skiing in the wild mountains close to the resort, something unconventional in the Pyrenees.

The Ordino Arcalís Freeride School prepares users with previous classes so that they can practice the activity in complete safety; and the most intrepid will be able to enjoy with total freedom the experience of descending snowy slopes that are practically inaccessible in any other way. The school offers a high level of learning, both technical and in safety and rescue. The instructors have specialized off-piste training to be able to do this type of outings, and in the courses the DVA+ shovel+sounder+backpack+freeride skis is provided.

Our instructors are qualified and have specific qualifications in off-piste skiing, snowboarding and rescue. In addition, we have guides of high mountain to be able to realize exits out of the skiable domain, so that the possibilities of amusement and learning are extended.
Do not forget that freeride has an important component of risk, so it is essential to equip yourself with the necessary safety equipment (helmet, DVA, shovel, probe) and understand its use. The school Freeride Vallnord – Ordino Arcalís provides its students with backpacks with the complete safety material and forms them so that they know how to use them.

I want to do heli-ski!

If you want to do heli-ski in Ordino Arcalís, we explain you how the activity is. A helicopter with a professional guide accompanies skiers and snowboarders from the resort to the top of the most emblematic peaks: Font Blanca, de les Fonts, de l’Hortell, el de Besalí, and el cap de les Aspres de Banyell. The attraction focuses on the diversity of practicable terrain: challenging open slopes, descents through forests, steep, heart-stopping slopes, or softer slopes. An amazing range of possibilities!

Once at the top, all that’s left is to concentrate on the descent, remember the safety tips, and enjoy the feeling of freedom that virgin snow provides. On arrival, users are picked up back at the station and… Nothing better to recover energy than a good meal in any of the restaurants of Ordino Arcalís!
